The Waimakariri District Council has commissioned two reports concerning the growth of Woodend Township.

One report presents three growth options for Woodend. Associated with each of the growth options are four State Highway alignment options.

The second report considers which of the current East Woodend roads should be the ‘collector’ or major road to access Gladstone Road and new development in Eastern Woodend.

The Waimakariri District Council is planning on conducting workshops in Woodend in late November, early December to discuss the project with individuals or community groups.

The Council wants comments from the public to help it decide on the next step for Woodend. The closing date for public comment is 14 December 2010.

Link to NZ Transport Agency (NZTA), which in consultation with the Waimakariri District Council, is investigating options for upgrading SH1 through Woodend.
