New Zealand is making changes to the Active Investor Plus Visa to attract high-value investments and encourage economic growth. From 1 April 2025, the visa will feature simplified investment categories, broader investment options, and reduced requirements for investors who choose active investments. Key Changes to the Active Investor Plus Visa Two investment categories: Growth Category – Minimum investment of NZD $5 million Balanced Category – Minimum investment of NZD $10 million Expanded investment options for the Balanced Category, including: Bonds Property investments (new residential developments, new/existing commercial or industrial projects) Fewer immigration requirements for those migrants who choose more active investments, such as time required to be spent in New Zealand Faster investment timeline: All investments must be completed within 6 months of visa approval (in principle) but investors can apply for a 6-month extension if needed Removal of the English language requirement Why These Changes Matter These updates make investing in New Zealand more accessible and attractive by simplifying the visa process and providing more diverse, lower-risk investment options.
